Zucchini, Organic Heirloom
Excellent for Kebabs, Zucchini Noodles, and delicious fried Squash Blossoms!
Zucchini plants are bush-style annuals with large leaves, and they produce smooth, dark green summer squash which are about 8" long. The first several flowers will be male, and do not produce any squash, but wait patiently and you'll notice lots of productive female blossoms following soon behind.
For best results, and if you don't see many bees nearby, use a small q-tip to pollinate by hand. To do this, take a little bit of pollen from a male flower and sprinkle it inside the female flower.
Heirloom Zucchini are the finest varieties of their kind, with seeds passed down from generation to generation. Much more interesting than standard grocery store varieties! Try your hand at growing heirlooms this summer, and see for yourself.
Pro Tip: For best results, avoid spraying water on the top of the plant, and always ensure the plant has good airflow in between the leaves. You can even remove extra leaves as needed to ensure good air circulation. This will help prevent powdery mildew from developing on the leaves.
