Queen of the Prairie
Queen of the Prairie, filipendula rubra, is a Native Canadian flower with beautiful pink clusters that emerge in summer. The first few growing seasons are slow for Queen of the Prairie, as she focuses on growing a solid root system, but these prized pink flowers are worth the wait.
Standing approx 5 feet tall, Queen of the Prairie is a great landscaping solution for Native Canadian gardens. This plant will spread via underground rhyzomes, so it's great for naturalizing a large area but it may overtake a small garden.
Note: Seeds require a cold period called stratification in order to germinate. For this reason, seeds are best sown outdoors in the fall.
