Sunflower, TALL Teddy Bear
A taller version of our bestselling Teddy Bear sunflower! Tall Teddy Bear produces fluffy double-bloom flowers that are about 5" in diameter with branching flower stems, giving you multiple flower heads per plant. Birds, bees, and butterflies all love this variety.
2021 was officially the “Year of the Sunflower” according to the Canadian Farmer’s Almanac and National Garden Bureau, so there’s never been a better time to add these sunny beauties to your home or cottage garden.
Sunflowers are heliotropic, which means that they turn their head to follow the sun, but as the heads become heavy with age they will rest facing East. They are native to North America and first grown as a crop by Indigenous tribes over 4,500 years ago.
Sunflowers are annuals and should be planted after the last frost date in the sunniest place in your garden. Sunflowers, as the name suggests, need a lot of sun and warmth in order to grow full size.
For a beautiful garden pairing, plant Tall Teddy Bear Sunflowers alongside Dwarf Teddy Bear Sunflowers, Zinnias, Lavender, and Powderpuff Asters.
