Dutchman's Breeches

Dutchman's Breeches

Dutchman's Breeches, Dicentra cucullaria, are a very rare native plant that grows on forest floors and in moist shaded areas. The flowers look like underwear on a clothesline, hence the name!

These flowers are among the first to bloom in springtime, providing an essential food source for pollinators emerging from hibernation.

Note: Keep seeds refrigerated until ready to use. Seeds require a warm moist period (summer) followed by a cold, moist period (winter). Therefore, sow seeds in spring and expect germination the following spring.
